Can't run on Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Hi,

Yes, I did read the Known Issues for Beta1 of Rebellion.

However I did, after I purchased the thing on my Win8 Box.

As It is almost impossible to design an application that runs on Win7 and not on Win8, I'd really like to know, when this will be fixed?

Regards

Rio

If they remove Stardock registration thingy from already Steam DRMed game you can run the game. But that won't be happen I think.

Yarlen stated that they are not going to address windows 8 issues until a much later time when that OS is a finalized OS.  They are concentrating on the now and not what will be coming out.

Me personally, this is why I do not mess around with any OS that is Beta.  It causing to many issues with either Drivers not being compatible or the fact that an OS beta will only last a few months before it expires.  to me its not worth the time having to reinstall all your apps and games and deal with the issues that come with using an OS that is beta.

Darksxx, that is a reasonable argument.

However, I need to run Win 8 for Development related reasons and I'm a dire dual-boot hater.

And as a final note, looking at the already in the millions install-base of the Consumer preview, I believe all ISVs waiting for RTM, will hurt themselves. Especially regarding the fact that today almost all apps run smoothly (my personal experience everything works, except the sins titles)

Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode?  I take it that this is your home PC you are developing and testing on?  You don't have another pc just for your gaming?

I did, but they dig deeper than the compat mode provides.

About the PC thing... I'm a lot on business travel and I like to have just one machine with me ;-)

Use Win8 and run VM with Win7 ;)

It seems odd that any company would force you to run a consumer preview.

I tried that, but sins won't start...

As someone already said, Win8 is just a consumer preview.  There's no support for Win8 right now as it's just too early and development is focused on OS's that people actually use on a daily basis. :)
