Sounds like you had some old advice. The Sova is a great capitalship and the best rusher there is period (Kol does suck though). Late game the other carriers get better than it but I wouldn't say its the worst. Akkan is also a great cap, gets your economy running quickly and armistice is one of the most powerful and flexible ultimates in the game. Right now in Diplomacy Vasari and TEC are definitely the races to play, with Advent a farther back third.
Awww....
I really like playing Advent.
Go read the wiki and a few up to date guides.
The TEC have different advantages than the others. Best ecnomy, cheap units, and flexible to name a few.
Also Marza Dreadnought is nicknamed the "Fleet killer" and Sova rush is an easy way to win a game.
Well against the AI it doesn't really matter who you pick. If you really don't like that fact there are mods that make them better.
It's worth it if you don't like to micro and like OPness.
Only masterial can defend the advent because hes well known here.
The only thing i'd say is advent are strong in the beginning vs Long range frigates with scouts and defense vessels. Forgoing desciples means they depend on bombers (unfortunately from only 2 halcyon) to kill caps and star-bases.
Once they get illums there O.k but can't rush to build them economy wise because there expensive.
The Hakkan is the best opener for Tec, followed by the Marza Dread-naught.
It's called a trump card, I can always say "let's play a game and find out".

Ah-there you are-the man who abuses defense vessel multi-directional firing and runs around enemy fleet formations. You do really enjoy that don't you
?
If you're new to TEC, try playing a fleet that includes two or three Marzas, all having missile barrage (manual, not self cast). I'll probably return to my Vasari as soon as I can, but that's something everyone needs to experience at least once. You'll never see the pirate base quite the same.
