Rebellion gameplay idea
Hey I came up with an idea and kinda refined it a bit over a while but figured i should put it up where others can see it
Communications added for rebellion. that sounds more complicated than it is. What i mean by it is what if they added the concept of communications to the game. Not in a large way just more of as a strategy tool. It would be a late game tech to black out a planet or planets of an opponent before an attack. All that would happen is that the player on the recieving end can no longer see what is happening or give orders to anything there. In essence it would just make the planet look like they would with an opponents planet that has the fog of war over it. Now this wouldnt be permanent only lasting a couple minutes but it would grant say a 25% decrease in the combat effectiveness of the defenders. It could eventually be countered with say a ability of a titan or fortress that would reduce the time and combat penalty. The reason i present this is because it would change the late game fights. It forces the the players to consolidate their fleets and shipyards at planets off of the front lines and to patrol and monitor their front line planets as well as the nuetral planets in between them and their opponent. It also allows the players with the smaller economies and fleets to do a vast amount of damge to an opponent and turn the tide in a conflict. So late game doesnt just come down to who has the biggest fleet and most planets. It forces the end game for large players to become a bit of a brawl over the neutral locations such as gas giants and what not making them actual battle grounds because the players are trying to keep stay free from the combat penalties while still allowing the small players a chance to get back into the fight and possibly win. Now at the very end when a player has only a couple planets left the capitol can not be blacked out so as to still give them a fighting chance. Also if a player has a large fleet with a titan the player has a vested interest in keeping them safe and only committing a titan to the most important fights such as when a key planet is blacked out the fleet can be deployed to attempt to save the planet. It also allows the more aggressive style players to crack a planets defenses with fewer casualties. I dont think this would be hard to put into the game because all that is really happening is the planet becomes enveloped in the fog of war as it is with most of planets it just turns it into a tactical tool. Just an idea thought i would see what people say.
