Over maxed HP

Hi all,

 

I just got the game so very new. I'm learning as I go along and watch LPs to pick up tips. But there's something I dont understand. I have a few ships, but they started off as 9/9 hp. Now they're something like 132/122 HP. I don't understand it. I have a screenshot, but I'm not sure how to post it? Basically why are some ships over the limit HP wise?

Damaged ships repair a certain proportion of HP each turn, this can put them over their maximum HP. Also as ships gain combat experience they gain maximum HP.

It's a "bug" that most players welcome as a "feature."

That is, many rationalize it as an additional gain over and beyond the gradual "leveling up" that comes from battle.

Well it doesn't last forever you know.  Once you start coming up against ships with real firepower ten extra HP isn't going to stop it getting toasted. ;)
