Saved file causing game crashes(Rebellion)

Today every time I hit single player on the main menu windows close the game indicating an error has occurred and gives me no more info. 

I was able to play last night for the first time but I didn't play long and just saved an closed down.

I have done some tinkering. The problem has to do with my saved files. 

If there are no saved I can just start a game like normal. I can also start if there is a saved file, but i haven't tried to load it yet. If I do try and load a saved file the game crashes, and windows says an error has occurred and gives me no information.  From this point on I cant select single player from the main menu without causing a crash unless i delete the saved file.

When I was test this I found that the saved files have player count of 0, and game time at 0:00:00.

I have already tried a re-install, and I removed both Rebellion and trinity before re-installing just Rebellion in case there was some kind of conflict. 

No luck.
