Fences + Microsoft 'Desktops' Software

fences get deleted/overwritten

Hi all,

I'm having an issue when using Micorosoft Desktops (multiple desktop software) and Fences.

Today I created one set of fences on desktop #1. I created another set of fences on desktop #2.

Later in the day today I did a computer restart.

When my computer came back up, the fences from desktop #2 overwrote the fences from desktop #1.

Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Thanks!

You can try to activate a function, which you can find under "tools" then "more tools". Put a checkmark to the first function (while all your fences are setted up correctly on the 2 desktops). But I'am not shure if it helps in this case.

I guess it happens cause fences may gets active before the other software does, so every fence is placed on your only available desktop.

If this is the case, perhaps you can set fences for a delayed start.

I tried the native resolution option. didn't work. to confrim, I did a cpu restart. checked the 'native resolution' option. set up fences on desktop 1. deleted all desktops from desktop 2. did another cpu restart. my fences on desktop 1 were gone. Desktop 1 seems to take the fences (or lack thereof) from Desktop 2.

I ran msconfig but Fences is not listed in the list of start-up items (which is odd, I think). So, I can't enable it manually. Any thoughts on how to get fences to not load on boot?

Microsoft's Desktops (released in 2010) does not handle desktop objects like other virtual desktops do.

I do not believe that Fences was designed to handle this non-standard methods.  The limitations described here are likely affecting Fences: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc817881.aspx
