Microsoft Introduces a New Corporate Logo

Microsoft has introduced the new corporate logo.  The last time this was updated was 25 years ago, and comes in line with the Windows 8 design.

What do you think?

Most of my consultancy work is in Credit Risk modelling. Considering the world economy is currently embroiled in what economists refer to as K-Winter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kondratiev_wave), probably worse than even the Great Depression; I think their logo is symbolic of the next ten years of the business environment.

I like it but then again i also like windows 8 far better than windows 7, after having used windows 8 now for the last 3 weeks i'm looking forward to the new devices that will have it installed on it.

Boring. but then when has MS been known for their flair? So no shocker here..

I've never liked any of their logo's. I especially despise seeing their logo as the 'start button' on a skin. I don't care for seeing the Apple logo on my start button either. If I were partial to logo's at all, I'd rather see the ubuntu logo there and it has nothing to do with any preference I have towards any operating system.

Right on, Po, you hit the nail right on the head there.  When MS puts it there as a matter of course it's bad enough, but when skinners [who are supposed to be customising the UI] do it as well, I am totally bewildered and quite disappointed that so much work went into a WB, yet that key element is still a f**king MS logo .  In fact, no matter how good the rest of the skin is, I have stopped downloading anything with the MS logo/flag on it, I dislike it that much.

As for this new low-go, best we don't see that on screen at all. XO

kinda understand that a logo has to be clean easy and remarkable but that looks like someone had no time and just made 4 boxes and used Segoe ahh just read they did use it ...but then again if i look at the video it kinda makes sense

I think it looks safe, that’s it just safe. Totally non-offensive, probably had an entire department spend a year or more to come up with something that couldn’t possibly offend anyone.

It offends me.  I don't like bland.....;)

For this special occasion I will be re-releasing my famous 'Windoze' wallpaper:-

That's the original, currently on view in my gallery, with a staggering 70 downloads (it's popular amongst inmates of a local psychiatric ward).

A pastel W8 version will follow shortly...

I'm sure Doc will be happy to hear this. He points out in this post that he is so looking forward to a gluttony of wallpaper uploads based on the new logo.

Heck, I might have to upload one just to add to his joy.  ;)

Doesn't offend me cos I don't give a rat's what MS uses as a low go.  So long as it's not emblazoned across my tee shirt, sewn into my socks or plastered on a label in my undies that the dry cleaner can see, I just don't care. Oh, and I don't wanna see it on/in skins... period.

Other than that, if Kleenex put it on tissues or TP, I'd happily blow my nose/wipe my arse on it... so long as there were the full 240 sheets to a roll, tissues to a box [180 sheets for the same price as 240 these days, is a fucken insult]  However, if Good-O made doggie treats out of it I dunno if I'd give 'em to my dog.  Apart from the horrible colors probably making him sick, the sharp corners on those squares could damage his intestinal tract.  So yeah, it belongs in some places but not others.

No doubt we'll see it on TV over the coming months and beyond, in newspapers, magazines and on billboards too, but out of sight would please me just as well.  However, and there's always one of those, isn't there, if its creators and the people at Microsoft are proud of this lowgo, then they should have it tattooed across their foreheads so we know exactly who's responsible for the monumental cock-up.

Yeah, I'm in on of those offensive moods, so here ya go Jafo, me old china....

Band, bland bland, bland bland, bland bland bland bland, bland.... bland diddy bland, bland bland, bland.... BLAND

and even after all that I still wasn't as offensive as MS, must be losing my touch :-"

Starkers.... #34 was in response to #33.

In reality I don't care a toss what MS does with it's logo.  It's how efficiently they knacker their OS that is a bother.
