Sudden, unexplained, intense lag

I was in the middle of a game on Huge Ring as TEC Loyalists when all of a sudden Sins started lagging intensely, to the point the game was unplayable. I have tested a few of my other games and they seem normal. What is strange is every aspect of Sins is moving in slow motion, very choppy. Even the intro and UI are slow. I have already verified integrity of the game cache and it came back normal. Can anyone help?

After a reboot of my computer this issue seems to be resolved. Still very curious as to why this happened in the first place, but it is no longer an issue. Will post again if it happens again.

You had something running in the background. Always check your processes via Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Depending on which version of Windows you're running, you can shut most of those processes down. If you aren't sure of one, just Google it.

One culprit is often an antivirus updating in the BG. For instance, Avast will cause intense system/Internet lag when its updating.


I don't think its Sins related, since I can play Rebellion on my Acer Aspire One Netbook without any lag at all till very late game on the biggest maps.
