Is this a bug?

Playing my first normal difficuility with Immense galaxy and 9 radom players in sandbox model using terra. All is going well as the empire grew grew in size and I manage to destory both Torian and Iconina which is my beside me.

I have manage to discovery all the technology and I have 64 logisiic point due to one of the Iconia planet has a Hyperion Logistics System. So in all I have 2 Hyperion Logistics System.

Next I am turning my eyes on the no1 civilization the  Korath Clan. I click on one of their fleet that is parked near one of my planet and to my horror I find that they have 94 logisitic point. Is this a bug? I view all Korath owned planet and found only 1 Hyperion Logistics System. How on earth did the Korath Clan get such high logistic? It is almost impossible to fight their fleet as both of us have reach the 300 attack point level

Can anyone help me on this question? Thanks

IIRC, some AI races start with a racial bonus in logistics.

Did you check the Korath for that?  (Pretend to start a new game and look in the Korath race set-up.)

End of LTjim's quote

this.

also, that 300 fleet attack is normal for me, all the AI get to those massive numbers.

Another point to consider is the red mining base effect.

That is, the first step in any big war is to kill off the enemy red bases and protect your own.  Remember, each fully built-out base adds a +39% factor in attack and defense to every ship everywhere in the galaxy.

The next-most important thing is the green bases, as they boost the economy by +39%.  The yellow bases add +39% to morale, and the blue ones +39% to influence.  By late game, the research bases are essentially meaningless.

So, if you intend to go to war with a big AI, especially in higher difficulty games, your first strike should be at their red (and green) bases.  Similarly, especially in Suicidal, the AIs will send fleet after fleet at your bases.  I always base my biggest fleets at or near my most important and most exposed base(s).

The point here is that those AI fleets (even if more logistics numerous than your can be), can be scaled back in power if your red bases live and the AI's die.  And, if "all its bases are yours," then the galaxy can be yours ....  :-)

Another trick depends on you being able to choose where the big battle will be fought.

For example, suppose you have a red or green base which sits in a spot where the AI will naturally be able to send fleets at it.  What you can do is build another base, a military base, adjacent to it.  Optimally, you would build several such bases and overlap their circles at the point of battle.  Now, add the combat ship assist modules to those bases.  The bonuses will be added to each ship.

If the enemy AI does not send fleets at you, you can take a support fleet of constructors along with your invasion fleet.  Then, should the AI finally contest you with a major fleet action, instantly build your military bases right before you attack the enemy.  If an AI has a huge fleet in orbit with the planet techs that double hit ponts and also make them fight as a fleet, then build your bases where they overlap that planet, then attack, all in one turn.

Note that, especially in smaller maps, building a huge overlap of such bases near a border allows you (with the speed bonuses) to add a one-time slongshot of 30+ bonus speed to your opening invasion fleet.  More than once I have declared war and conquered an AI's entire empire in one turn that way.  At Suicidal, you especially do NOT want an AI to have time.  Even if you cannot eliminate the AI in the opening turn, taking out all the red and green bases and invading a big sector can go a long way to ensuring victory.

Hey guys/gals thanks for the advice.

I think I know why why Korath Clan got such high logisitic point. Its one of the event that they touch somthing that will keep making stronger (can't remember the excat event). If that is not the case than I really don't know whats the reason. Korath Clan has +7 base logistic and Terra has +6. So we should not be that far from each other.
