hide civilian ships?

UI settings ?

Hello all, avid fan of Sins with a (probably under-researched) question...

Is there any way to hide civilian ships from appearing in phase lanes? Mainly I'm asking because I find it kind of annoying when i attempt to click on a planet (for any reason) from the 'zoomed out' view and i accidentally click a civilian ship in-phase to/from a celestial body.

I realize that i can click 'cinematic mode' to disable hp/status bars and phase lanes, but more specifically, i was really hoping to be able to toggle on/off the view of (strictly) civilian ships.

It isn't mandatory that this function be enabled, but any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm hopeful that I'm just overlooking a toggle button somewhere... many thanks to any and all who reply to this inquiry.

There is an option to turn off trade ship icons.

Yup, and it also improves performance. So always disable them.

Not to be trolling, ;P  But does it really. I mean, when you toggle the switch to turn them off they switch off immediately and come back when you turn them on. It looks like they just turn invisible and still running in the background even though you don't see them.

Now when you toggle for effects meaning low, med, high. It takes time for the computer to redraw the ships, structures and planets. Now the reason I ask this is, a game I was playing ran better with the icons and such vs cinematic mode.

That's why I am asking...

Some people have reported that turning them off can help a little bit, presumably with CPU lag. The game has to keep track of every little thing, even icons, so at least on a trivial level I would think it should.

The graphics quality settings mostly affect RAM, not CPU, so that's why they are different.

In my experience they do help performance to some extent. *shrugs* I also unpin the feature tree as that is literally a second instance of every ship in your gravity wells. Un-pinning everything it also reduces late game lag.

empire tree especially late game is big cause of lag.

As for trade ships. Yes game still has to track them anyway but while zoomed out (galaxy map) it doesn't need to render icons.
