Start8 running but nothings changed?

I downloaded the trial and went through the config screens. I x'd out, and restarted. Nothing. I did some searches on the forum and I checked the programdata and it does show up there. Also brought up the control panel and it is technically running. But everything remains the same. Any suggestions?
