Adding new skins

Hello, I'm a newbie looking for some help. I had Windowblinds on my old XP computer, which would ownloa & instal new skins just fine (a balloon would pop in my sys tray & tell me it was installed). I now have a new computer running Windows 7, and when I download the file it just gives me the zip file; it doesn;t automatically install like it used to. When I extract to a folder & try to run it myself by clicking on the .UIS file, it says: "There appears to be no .uis file in this skin. Are you sure it is a WindowBlinds skin?"

I know I'm doing something wrong. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

There seems to be a glitch in the file delivery system. Until it's fixed, just change the zip to a .wba. Then double click it.

Now, the exception to this rule is that sometimes, artists put a wallpaper in the zip along with a wba file. Lightstar does this a lot.

So, when you can, check the contents of the zip before changing the extension.

It could also depend on the browser your using. I use Firefox and never had this happen...but I've heard of it happening with IE once in awhile.

Like WebGizmos said. It is happening with IE almost all the time mow. As he said use another browser they all seem to work Firefoc, Chrome, opera. Wish this would be addressed as it has been going on for some time now.

Thanks everyone. I changed the .zip to a .wba and it worked. I also downloaded another skin using FireFox & that worked as well. I didn't think to use FireFox as I thought the problem was in the unpacking of the zip, or my windowblinds not connecting to it. Didn't realize it was an IE problem.

Thanks again!

Hows that Dave.  Sufficiently addressed the problem. Just picking Dave, would be nice to fix this for users who are not crafty enough to work around. B)

Windowblinds will open zip files without having to change the file extension.  Just open Windowblinds, click the skin options button at the top left and choose "install new" and navigate to where you have downloaded the skin file.
