No start button

from Stardock Forums

I have installed Start8 and have an icon on Win8 Desktop.  When I click the icon a configuration box pops selected start button closed the box found no save button so I then closed the box.  I do not have a start button that brings up the program list and every time I click on the Start8 icon on the desktop the config. box comes up which I close using the X button.

I am using the paid version. I have a SN if you need it. I am using a Samsung Tablet XE500T 1C-A04US. Purchased system yesterday and downloade Start8 today 11/29/12

So just to confirm, there is no start button at all on the taskbar?

If you press the windows key what happens?

That is correct there is no start button on the taskbar.  If I touch the windows key I am taken back to the Win8 Desktop

If you go to the Start8 folder (c:\program files (x86)\Stardock\Start8) and run Start8.exe does anything happen?

Thank you I now have the start button, which brings up the programs and is configured so that the windows key switches between W7 &W8.

Yes, I got the config. screen up and then, I believe, the top two buttons let you chose what you want to open with the Start8 start button and the windows button on the tablet.  This is just a shot in the dark as I don't have the tablet with me at this time.  When I get it back, I'll check to make sure my advise was correct.  I just made changes with the config. until it did what I wan't it to do.

I lose the start button whenever I exit Win 7 and work in Win 8.  When I go back to work in Win 7 I have to go to the Stardock program and run it to get the start button then it will be there as long as I don't shut down or do anything in Win 8.

Hope you have a remedy for this.

It sounds like the service is not installed. 

Do you have any anti malware applications running that might have silently blocked part of the installation?
