Still no jump lists

...and really desperate about it!

Hi Stardock developers and friends,

I know there are quite a few posts about jump list problems already and I think I read them all.

In fact they didn't solve my problem, so please help.

My system: Windows 8 Pro x64, Start8 version is 1.03 (paid)

The problem: not a single jump list (ie. for MS Word/Excel/PPT 2010...Acrobat XI...Photoshop CS6 x64...Windows 8 Editor...) shows up in my Start8 menu.

solutions already tried (after reading relevant forum entrys):

- removed all applications from my taskbar

- even removed all applications from the windows 8 start menu

- tried various different start8 styles (default, default w/black edges, Win7, Win7 solid, large/small icons...)

- system restarts (of course many restarts - the number one IT-guy-order)

Apart from this annoying bug I think Start8 is a great small app for a great small price. BUT I'd rather fill up my taskbar again than pass on the jump lists.

Thank you.

Markus

anyone with an idea for a solution?

Jump lists shouldn't require any configuration and they should all be working automatically just fine.

Do the same applications when opened show jumplists on their right click taskbar menu?

Also how did you make those shortcuts?  If you find notepad in all programs, right click it and select pin to Start (Start8) and then open notepad and save some files, do you get a jump list for that one?

Also try out the 1.09 beta link in this forum as we did make some small changes.

Hi Neil

Thank you for answering!

I'm afraid my jump lists don't work just fine, they still don't work at all. Yes, all jump lists work in the task bar, but not in the Start8 menu. All shortcuts were made like you suggested, also tried the beta which didn't solve it.

This is the first time my computer problem seems to be unique and I am quite confused about it.

Any other idea what I can do?

thx

Markus

Was this an upgrade install over Windows 7 or a clean install?

It was a clean install.

A few weeks before I tried Classic Shell which displayed the jump lists. It has other drawbacks like ugly looks and poor performance so I removed it by going back to a previous image (= no installation rests of classic shell possible).

If you drag a folder to the startmenu (Drag to the start button and then up onto the menu and so pin it), does that get a jump list?

It does!

Good to see this list working - I guess this means hope for me. Of course I made sure that the task bar options are set on 'remember and show previous files used in jump lists' (set on 10 elements, forgot to mention this earlier).

:w00t:   today I saw the first regular jump list in my start8 menu = WinZip Pro 16.

Don't know what's different to the other applications, but the jump list looks as it should, showing recently opened archives and some pre defined tasks like 'new archive', 'open archive' etc.

What else can I do about Word, Acrobat, CamtasiaStudio, Notepad etc. ?

End of mareu65's quote

Given one shortcut is working that suggests there is something about the other shortcuts that is causing a problem.

I think it may be best to contact support so they can obtain some more information about your system directly.
