Quick Launch and Start8 problems

can't pin anything to the quick launch with Start8 running.

Hello Stardock.

 

I've purchased your start 8 program and just now found out that I can no longer pin any items to my quick launch menu.

 

Prior to using Start8 I was using some of your competitors replacement start menu and had no problems dragging an icon from my desktop down into the quick launch area and getting those items pinned to my quick launch menu, but with Start8 all that happens when I try to do that is that it ends up pinning the item to the start8 menu instead.

 

Could you please fix this or if Start8 requires that I pin items to the quick launch menu in some other way please let me know.  I make regular use of my quick launch and giving it up would be as bad as running Windows 8 without your Start8 menu system.

What do you mean by the quick launch menu exactly?

Do you mean dragging them and making them pinned shortcuts on the usual taskbar which when clicked change into running applications? or is this some other bar?

I mean the Windows quick launch toolbar.

Windows 8 does not have such a thing by default.

You can create one, but in testing I have found you can drag to it fine, just make sure you drag to the right place.  It is very easy to miss the drag target in which case it will pin to the startmenu instead.  If you look at the label on the dragging icon it will indicate where it is being added to.

And now it's working properly again.  I don't know why it's working now but it wasn't when I wrote the original post.

 

I have a very long quick launch tool bar so putting new icons into it is quite simple but when I tried originally it didn't matter where on the quick launch bar I tried to place the item it always showed up with a tooltip telling me it was going to pin it to start8 menu.  Maybe the computer needed a reboot, I can't remember if I had installed the latest Start8 menu that day or not.

 

Anyway, seems to be working the way it should again, so it's all good now.
