Titan blows up for no reason.

A few times my Titan has blown up for no reason at all.   Just boom.  No explanation.   Is there some racial or faction ability I don't know about?   Twice it happened near where I was building or upgrading starbases, and once it happened in by a planet with nothing at all in it (besides my fleet).  All this was while I was playing human loyalists faction.

From full health? I have no clue what could cause that.  If the titan was already wounded it could potentially be a Wail of the Sacrificed or Kostura Cannon shot from another gravity well finishing the job.

In all instances it was at full health.  I just get the voice message that my titan blew up.  I didn't ever see it happen on my screen, so I'm not sure if a cannon hit the planet in question, but the two times that my titan blew up near my building starbases they were not in orbit of a planet at all - they were in orbit of my system's star which a cannon cannot even target.

hmm, with not enemies present and titan at full health I can't imagine how it could have happened.  A wail of the Sacrficed could do as much as .75*20*322= 4830 damage to your titan from an adjacent Terran Planet- after shield mitigated(at 17% base) & armor that would only be about 3300 damage- not nearly enough to kill any full health titan.

So I can't imagine what would cause this.

Yeah, there wasn't even any enemies present within my solar system at the time and I owned all the planets.  I was playing with a custom random map where every enemy starts out in a different star system.

Thanks for listening though, bilun I appreciate it.

Are you playing any mods?

Nope, no mods.  Haven't tried any yet.   All I have been doing when these are blowing up is let system generate a random map of 6 stars and 6 players (5 UI).  50-75 random planet objects.

I don't think it's the map. Are you sure there aren't any enemy mines in the gravity well, or other structures you might have missed? And you're sure you didn't hit ctrl+s or the yellow black and white bar below the unit picture (both will scuttle your unit)?

In all three instances, the enemy forces had never made it to my solar system yet (beyond a couple scout ships).  It seems that the AI is pretty slow getting to you when it is not in the same star system.

I suppose it is possible that I accidentally scuttled it... three times... seems unlikely but possible.  I know I didn't hit the yellow/black bar with the mouse, but I may have unintentionally hit ctrl-s or something.   Seems odd I only did it with the titan though.

Question, since I don't have rebellion, if you lose a research unit like a military lab, will it blow up or no...?

Well, would you notice with anything besides a titan or capitalship?  ;)

No, you just can't build any more.

This frightens me...Wait, is it always at a star?  I think some stars have abilities now(Or is that the Distant Stars mod?  I get the two confused sometimes...) so is it possible the star that was generated destroyed the titan with some DOT ability?  I've never heard of something like this before though...Also, it could be a wandering pirate raid sniped you on their way through.  Would have to be monstrously huge to pop a titan just passing through the grav well though...IDK, this is just weird.  Especially if it happened multiple times.

Mmmm, either it's a bug that is occurring in his game or as Goa suggested, he's inadvertently scuttling his titan...

Two times at a star near where starbases were being constructed (the Titan may actually have been on top of that spot both times) but the third was in a planetary system I owned and there were no other planets in that star system that I did not own.

Did you have the auto recording on, if so, you can watch the replay on what happened to your titan(s)...

Unfortunately no.  I've never tried recording a game before.

Well methinks your best bet is to start recording now- If it happens again you can post the replay and if it doesn't it's nolonger your problem  ;P

If it was near starbases all 3 times... Maybe you red buttoned the starbase by accident?

Except that wouldn't have killed the titan at full health.

Other than that, I have no idea...

You have auto saves most likely.

Find the one just prior to your mysterious explosion and repro it with auto record on.

Post the save game and recording here.

Otherwise we'll just assume you've scuttled it as there is no evidence of this "bug" otherwise.

If Tier 1 players can scuttle their HW "accidentally", I think it is safe to say this is also a scuttling accident...

Methinks there is a story behind that. Do tell.
