Rebellion upgrade discount website issues

I am trying to upgrade from Trinity to Rebellion.  I own Trinity through Steam, so I:

1) visited sinsofasolarempire.com/store

2) clicked on "Owners of any Sins of a Solar Empire game can receive Rebellion with a $10 discount, just login to apply." Which takes you to sinsofasolarempire.com/preorder.

3) logged into my stardock(?) account

4) saw the price as $39.99, clicked on "Don't see a discount applied? Please register your game's serial number here."

5) and got a 500 error: "We're sorry but there was an error processing your request. Please try again at a later time."

What can I do now?  I didn't see any support links on the website or anything like that... so I had to try the forums for support.

Thanks.

Okay, I figured out you have to launch Trinity and the first step from there is to register.  Once I did that, it was registered with stardock, so no need to use this broken web link.

Sadly, it didn't give me a discount on the purchase of the upgrade (19.99 did not reduce to 9.99), so maybe I'll just have to wait until it falls in price some more...

(As for why I hadn't launched Trinity, I just purchased it through Steam and realized there was a better version and wanted to move to that... unfortunately that meant rebuying the new game).

Maybe the $10 offer isn't valid with any other sale? It was 66% off on a steam sale recently, so that's $13.34 or something like that. That's the cheapest I've ever seen Rebellion.

I think you're right.  Now that the $19.99 sale is over, I do see the $10 discount on the $39.99 base game.

I sent a question in to sales@stardock, but it takes two days to get a reply.  Unfortunately, it didn't get resolved before the sale was over, so it's kind of a moot point, but I think what you've described is the intention--even though it's not written anywhere.
