Press start button again to close?

I am really loving Start8, but I find myself missing one function of the old start menu. It used to be that if you had the start menu open and clicked the start button, the start menu would close. But with Start8 If I click on the Start button while it's already open, it just opens again.  I have to click somewhere on the taskbar to close it instead. It's a minor thing and easy enough to work around, but it sure would be nice to have it behave like the old start menu did.

Clicking should close the panel.

What version are you using?

If you have upgraded recently, have you rebooted?

What happens if you tap the win-key?

Which mode of Start menu are you using in Start8.

We should be working just like Win7 did and a quick test here suggests we are.

I just upgraded to the new version (1.1) today and rebooted. It has not fixed my problem. When I hit the winkey, it closes. Most of the time, I am using my computer in tablet mode (either interfacing with the touchscreen or pen input) without a keyboard. So it doesn't help me much to have to hit the winkey.

I haven't tried it with a mouse... I wonder if it behaves differently in reaction to a mouse click versus touch or pen click.

I will plug one in and let you know if I am still having the problem.

I am using the Win7 style menu with the default theme

Edit: I just tried switching to the Win8 menu and it behaves correctly (closes the menu when tapping the start button) but the Windows 7 menu just opens the menu again when i click it.

It is possible a touch might act differently.  I will see if someone can test that here.

I just plugged in a mouse and it behaves as expected (click closes menu) so it must be touch and pen that are wrong.

I do notice that touch occasionally closes it, but pen never does.
