Support: Best Approach for me to take at Reinstalling from Scratch?

Reinstalling from scratch?

Masters of Stardock,

What is the best approach for me to take at reinstalling from scratch my Galactic Civilizations II - Dread Lords Collectors Edition box CDs along with GalCiv II - Dark Avatar Expansion CD for GalCiv II - Dread Lords? I have these CDs, my account information, the serial numbers or registration codes for each product along with the links for each product that I have purchased from Stardock.

Here is the catch! My internet connection is a simple dialup with a maximum of 49.2Kbps and unable to upgrade or do not have access to anything faster! It would take days to download the programs directly because of the limited access I have to use the internet connection for things like this. Which of these shown below is the best and fastest way for me?

  1. I install the GalCiv II - Dread Lords CD#1 & CD#2 without updating GalCiv II - Dread Lords program then install the GalCiv II - Dark Avatar Expansion CD that should update GalCiv II - Dread Lords program correct. After everything is installed completely, update them.
  2. I install the GalCiv II - Dread Lords disk #1 & disk #2 then update it completely first before I can install the GalCiv II - Dark Avatar Expansion CD then update it?

Any help or input would help before I begin this task.  8|

Dark Avatar should update the base game to whatever version it needs it to be at to install.

For the update itself, you will need to use GameStop (formerly Impulse), assuming you had the game registered at least two years or so ago. GameStop won't recognize the retail installation but there is a Detect Application option in GameStop's app that you can use to tell it where it is. Once you do that you should be able to update.

If you didn't register the game before GameStop bought Impulse, or if they've lost your registration and their support can't recover it, you can email our support for an alternate means of updating but it would involve a full download of the game.

Thanks Kryo,

I went to GameStop and found out that I could also login there where it showed me the same serial number that are on my CDs and the original order form details dated in 2007 that I still have plus an email dated May 3, 2008 from Stardock Sales that I have with all my data and info.

It looks like that I am register with GameStop, so I am going to try the first choice to see if it would work then obtain the GameStop’s app for GalCiv II – Dark Avatar Expansion Pack.

Thanks again for all your help and guidance these many years, Master Kryo. :)
