uhhh.. last time I played endless space it didn't look like a board game where you conquer 23 planets "the galaxy!" vs 1 opponent. Granted you can play "Tiny" galaxy with 16 planets against a single opponent in Endless Space (Small is 32 planets), you are missing out on a lot if you do.
The only thing similar between this game and Endless Space are the space battles though I admit the space battle graphics look prettier in Galactic Reign.
Rest of the game looks like some sort of Wii game as it looks very cartoony and I feel it takes away from the atmosphere. This isn't Ben10 it's galactic domination, you don't want your face melting alien race to look cutesy.
Requirement for online connectivity to play is disturbing as they mention the space battles are generated in the Cloud then downloaded to your computer. Riding on SimCity success are we? Especially if this is true for single player component of the game (not sure if there is single player, they didn't really specify in the advertising video). Anyway cloud generated battles (SERVER DOWN TRY AGAIN LATER) coupled with requirement to have Win8 pretty much places the final nail on the coffin. Good luck to developers of this game but they sure aren't making it easy for marketing by adding so many restrictions.
Now back to testing Stardrive Beta (Damn you Devildog for getting me addicted to this game!)
