Huge maps are awsome

Just finished my first LH game.  I played it on a huge map, hoping to flush out memory issues for the beta.  Man, huge is really huge.  A 95 turn win via the spell of making, and I was only able to explore about a quarter of the map.

BTW, no memory issues.  Only crash was on one of the setup screens.  Very minor other problems.  This beta is light years ahead of the FE beta.

That's great!  Eventually we'll go 64-bit only and be able to go really nuts!

Glad you're liking them.

Bigger maps let the AI play more peacefully in the beginning which allows them to fight more effectively later. Nothing is worse than seeing 2 civ's get stuck on 1-2 cities all game while 2 others steamroll the entire map.

The only problem I have noticed is that champions and sov's level up pretty slow.

However, upgrading "group size" instead of it being given is more fun.

I can't imagine winning any kind of victory under turn 100, but this game caters to multiple archetypes. I am an RP'er and I play more through my Sov and less through my civ.

Thus my game is focused more on specializing my champions, exploring and researching the green tree.

I can't wait to see the new scenarios! Also, I would like to see a TSL map for Anthys if possible. I have tried making my D&D world, and I tried making an erebus world, however both resulted in ultimate failure; i cannot name a specific improvement that will make it easier for people like me to make maps other than making the click-drag easier, and make placements of everything less annoying and sensitive.

I only try to post feedback in other threads with similar feedback to my own. I also try to avoid starting threads because they don't seem to generate much attention (like my anthys feedback thread). I don't fault you, after seeing Frogboy on quite a few other threads (one specific thread recently) discuss what kind of feedback is helpful, I am still structuring my feedback in a helpful way.

Thus, hopefully within the next few days when I get my essays finished I will put some attention to making a post which addresses the points of relevance rather than just blithering "fix this, do this, blah blah blah".

I always find myself having to slow the game pace, via lowering tech and production speeds, to have huge and even large maps play with any sense of a challenge. The tech and production rates on normal are, IMO, too fast for these larger maps and leaves the AI factions at a significant disadvantage.

Huge maps are really really awesome! The only problem I've found so far is that a) pioneers take forever to get anywhere, this makes the arcane outpost spell and master scouts trait really strong compared to smaller maps (maybe make it so that you can mount pioneers too?) and b) due to the bigger map size you will have a lot more cities which generate an unreal amount of unrest, which is hard to control unless you plan ahead.

Can't wait for bigger maps, my 8 GB ram 64-bit system is ready.

Dense monsters, telling ya!  They hog-roll the AI too, except for the usual 1 or 2 leaders.

What do you mean "we'll go 64-bit only"? Is there a 64-bit build available now?

I have Win7 x64 and task manager says the game process is 32-bit (LegendaryHeroes.exe *32)

I think this is a great addition to the game.

I like to play the same way.  The only reason I won this game in 95 turns was that if I hadn't cast the spell of making, Resoln would have beat me to it.  I never did find them on the map.

All true.

I also love the huge maps! All the games I've played in LH so far have been on huge maps.

Does it seem like there is more "dead" space (non settle-able) proportionally though? Maybe I've just been unlucky on the random map generator.

I love the "upgrade group size" as well. Great option. Also love Arcane Monolith. It's one of my favorite spells/racial traits to get.
