Will crappy laptops be supported?

Yea, Yea, I know stupid question.

I am just asking because i have a crappy i5 laptop with an intel graphics chip. It runs 64 bit windows 7, I am wondering if GC3 will run (even if its low settings) on my machine. If not i guess its time to build a new box.

Yeah, I'm all for saving money, but I'm getting sick of the effing 1366x768 displays.  So ridiculous ... though I place GC2 on it from time to time.  I miss my older one with a 1280x800 :/

Since the game isn't done or even in alpha, they probably don't know system specs other than 64bit and dx10+ required.  Your i5's integrated graphics may support Dx 10 - you'd have to look that up (or figure it out on your laptop).  Once reason they're doing 64bit is to be able to use more RAM for AI and map sizes and you don't mention how much RAM you have - sometimes laptops are a bit lean for that even when they're win7-64.

If you have 4GB RAM, i'll wager it will run, but on the larger galaxies it would very, very slow. I had an obsolete laptop (winxp 32bit 1gb) in 2008 that i was running GC2 DA/ToA on with immense galaxies and it played, but took an age to play a turn.

if your looking to experience the game Stardock are intending, i foresee disappointment in your future.

I'd ay that the game is going to be very memory and CPU intensive

If you're expecting this to work on a netbook then i'd say no

Its an i5 2450M cpu 2.5 gigs. 6 gigs ram, and an intel graphics 3000 gpu. DXDIAG says it is DX 11 so i assume it is DX 10/11 capable. which games use dx 11 anyway? I think many games still use DX 9 to this day.

I know my laptop is kinda dated (for computer standards) I bought this last year, but i was hoping to get some extra mileage out of her before resorting to spending quite a bit of money i may not have to build a new gaming system. Though that day is coming. Just hoping it will be a little later so i can save the cash.

Given those specs, i'd say you will be fine for the most part. Turn down the graphics and limit your playing to the smaller maps (i wouldn't bother with gigantic or immense) and you should get some good game play.
I'd say the campaign would be quite ok.

@Major, the CPU looks ok, though the HD3000 will limit you graphically. How much really depends. You'll also be sacrificing video memory for onboad memory so that's another give/take thing.

I don't think a laptop bought same day as the final game is out is going to be a problem. Probably even a year old (in that date) laptop will do. That is the way of nature, but there is one catch. Buy a solely Intel HD driven laptop and you can forget games already. Those are crap and always going to be, no matter what Intel datasheets say.
