If I preorder now ... ?

Hi there,I have a Question about preorder.

If I preorder the game now do I "only" get the English version of the game or will there be an option for changing language later ?

Don't take me wrong, I have no problem with English and I would like to help with the money for the preorder but I prefer to play the game in my language especially when there is/will be a translated version and I do not intend to buy the game twice

You can assume it'll be in English until there's some announcement otherwise. Typically localizations are funded/performed by and exclusive to the regional distributors.

The way I see, nowadays most of the games are in multi-language. So if they will make it in other languages, the change has to be as simple as just a click of a button in the settings, or maybe a downloadable language pack for no additional cost at all or simply implemented in a later update. So I don't think that you have to worry about this.

Steam allows you to download games in all supported languages, even if they are added later. So if GalCiv3 will support other languages, you'll almost certainly be able to get it.

that comment by mivo convinced me ;)

just die the normal preorder.

Unfortunately what mivo said is not 100% correct.

I agree with mivo that this is the normal behaviour. Unfortunately I had already one different expirience and this was with the german "Fallen Enchantress - Legendary Heroes" Edition.

There I had no possibility to switch to the german version until I bought the german retail version. After activating the key the Fallen Enchantress I already had was replaced by a Multilingual version (german / englisch) which you cannot buy at steam!

However this happened only once for all of my 450 Steam games - but the game was from Stardock...

I suppose it depends on the publisher....

Since I am interested in the Founder Elite Edition I would like to see an official Statement from Stardock that other languages will be supported.

Does this new statement by Kryo help?

Stardock is based in the US and we do not do localizations ourselves. Typically these are done by regional distributors, and they retain rights on their translations (so you need to buy their release to get it). As such, there won't be localizations during pre-release testing.

I read Kyros first statement here and this solved my issue:

Therefore I will wait for the locale release - Switching back to english is then still possible. I hope the german release will be in parallel with the official release...
