I'm mulling over the pro's and con's of DVD vs digital, and was wondering what the DVD version comes with in the jewel case...

Umm, I would assume LH 1.0. Either way you will want to patch through Steam. Steam is required for play even if there is a DVD version. As stated on Stardock's Store page
If you found Legendary Heroes for DVD I think you should wait for Brad or someone from Stardock to clarify. Amazon comes up empty and you can only buy the Digital version on Stardock's store. You might be walking into a scam.
