Vaders Modding Features Wish List

As i am making a freespace mod for rebellion http://www.moddb.com/mods/freespace-blueplanet-at-war, i have come into some problems which i need new features added to the game to completely fix. This is the features i required to have the mod have a true freespace feeling. So if your reading this whoever is developing the game and its code, Ironclad Or Stardock, please think about these ideas. |-)

1. If Possible, Slash beams that slash across the hulls of ships.

2. Ability to Shoot down Missiles.

3. Ability to disable certain weapons, thought ability or weapon fire.

4. Support For more then 5 weapons. like they say the more the merrier (Big One Here).

5. If so able, support for turrets.

6. Ability to change firing angles of weapons.

7. Ability To Shut down phase lanes to force other team to use another route.

 

So they are my wish list for future updates for rebellion. Some of them may not be possible, but trying cannot hurt.

I can almost promise you 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 will never happen. Not entirely sure what you mean by 1 but more precise weapon effects are probably unfeasible and at any rates improvements like that can't easily be sold as a feature in a new DLC.  ;)  Same kind of thing with 2 and 6. The Devs have basically said turrets will not happen until Sins 2, and they already raised the weapon limits with titans in Rebellion, unless they release a "Mega Ultra Titan" DLC I don't see them raising it again.

 

Technically you could do 7 already, but the AI would be totally unable to deal with it and would just get their fleet stuck.

 

I realize this is just a wish list, but a good part of Sins modding is learning how to make use of what you have to make to make features and mechanics that have the overall effect you want. You can almost never get things to work exactly like they do in another sci-fi universe. You can however, do things like simulate antimissile systems by using the PhysicalDamageTaken entity modifiers to reduce the damage your ships take from missiles, and in the ability attribute it to shooting some missiles down.

number 1 is a beam that slashes from one spot of a ships hull to another, just to ask how do you do number 7. Weapon limit increases would be very very nice for me and i am sure other modders. but most of these most likely will not happen. Number 3 would be very nice and would very much help me out.

5 weapon slots is plenty IMO. With how Sins' weapons are set up, you really don't need more than 5 slots.

then you don't know the freespace franchise, some ships have 10 to 15 different types of weapons

Once again, I'm talking with reference to Sins' own mechanics. If Sins had a flexible hardpoint mechanic like EaW, it would be a different story. A chunk of Freespace's weapons would be better represented by abilities anyways, such as point defense guns.

hardpoint system like eaw would be excellent, but most likely never happen, the ability point would be good but then comes the problem of running out of abilitys.
