Also, I've been wondering something recently. Is it possible to give a bonus for having a one handed weapon and nothing in the other hand?

I've actually been thinking about a new class (but...I've got almost zero ability to do XML) that's inspired by the Paladin, in that it's essentially a multi-class combining Warrior and the combat portion of Commander. Maybe with a minor magical portion and boni trending to being in a larger group. And instead of a specific weapon, give a smaller bonus to wielding one handed weapons.

 

Thoughts on this being that an Officer would be a skilled soldier, a commander and more than likely learned (and magic seems to be the best way to represent that).

Because I love really long games, I'm in the process of changing various pacing things aimed at a game of about 3000 turns.

 

Now, I've changed both research and production in XH_ElementalDefs and am happy with the results. What I am finding in game however, is that the level progression of hero's, and 'super events' and powerful quests are coming too fast and messing up the pacing.

 

How would I go about:

 

1. Doubling the amount of xp needed for level up?

 

2. Slowing down the events (ie, are they determined by turn number/difficulty setting etc) and would I need to change individual events or are there overall settings in the  XH_ElementalDefs?

 

3. Likewise with quests. For example, I got the quest to free the dragon, the one where you get a guardian/titan to join you. While this is a great quest, for my own game pacing I would like to see this these levels of quests coming at turn 1000, not turn 200.

 

Any advice would be great.

Would have to see your debug.err to see why it's crashing. Likely a memory issue, but could be something else. Maybe you're just running out of Champions and that crashes your game. Try downloading Champion Bonanza, see if that fixes your issue.

It's recreated each time you run the game, so make sure to grab it immediately after experiencing an issue.

You can paste it to Pastebin or a similar text hosting service and post the link they provide here.

Please don't post the debug.err's contents straight into a thread, as they're almost invariably long.

No certainty I can figure out what's going on, but worth checking.

1. XtraDeconstruct isn't compatible w/ Demons & Wizards, so you have to remove one or the other. Can't use both at the same time.

2. You also have the ResourceType issue, either because you are using both above mentioned Mods on top of other Mods or because you still have the Rivermod installed. Make sure to delete the following folder:

The 2nd issue isn't likely to prevent map creation, but the first might. Otherwise, not sure what the problem is. Try generating maps w/ less than 27 AI until you find what the limit is. It seems to make it to the last AI/Player (#28) in the Debug.err, so maybe just one less would do it. As far as I remember, I've played w/ more than 20 before, probably around 23ish.

I'm not sure what's happening there, but I still think there's a problem w/ your installation. First, the map size says:

Debug Message: Map Size: Gigantic
Map Style: Balanced

Whereas it should say:

So the Map Size name is incorrect. If you haven't done that change yourself through xml editing, then you're possibly running sjaminei Map Mod, which isn't necessary as it's sjaminei Map Mod (w/ some fixes and nomenclature changes) that's included w/ Xtra.

 

 


Then, the debug still shows a problem with the GoodieHuts & Resources:

    • Titanic Map Size

 

    • 27 AI

 

    • Ludicrous Quest Frequency

 

    • Dense Monster Frequency

 

    • Moderate Shard Frequency

 

    • Moderate Resource Frequency

 


While those numbers do slightly change (say +/- 25) when you start a new instance of LH, I'm not sure how you would get 710 Goodie Huts as it usually barely goes above 400 w/ Ludicrous Setting. Also not sure why the Resources would be at considering you've removed Rivermod (Either you're still above the ResourceType maximum number because of other Mods or Resources are unable to spawn because the GoodieHuts number (710) is too high).

You may have installed Mods that are overwriting files in your English (Core) folder (Such as Patchwork), you may have forgotten to remove the Demons & Wizards resources that are installed in your English (Core) folder, you may have another Map Mod installed, and/or something else is not right.

 

At any rate, if you find the game is playing good enough for you right now, go for it and enjoy it. Otherwise, you will want to do the following:

1. Library > FELH > Properties (Right-click) > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache

(Note that Verifying Integrity of Game Cache will replace missing files and modified files, but will not remove files that have been added to the English (Core) folder, so you may still have to track those and remove them yourself e.g. Patchwork / Demons & Wizards files).

2. Clean up your \Mods\ folder --> Delete everything except \Race\ and \Units\

3. Re-install Black Market Bazaar, Champion Bonanza, Children of Storm, and XtraDeconstruct following instructions set out in their Installation files (Those are the Mods showing up in your Debug.err file as they have Mods folders; you may have other Mods installed, but I can't tell).

I deleted Demons and Wizards in mods and I don't believe I put any of it into the English core folder. So I could still get the type of map I want I have now decreased the water of the deconstruct map mod so if you still see more goodie huts that may be why.
