ObjectDock disappeared and can't make it appear again

I have the free version of ObjectDock, Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64bits.

I used to have ObjectDock Always on Top, with Autohide.

Since yesterday, it´s not appearing anymore! I can see the ObjectDock.exe process running in the Task Manager, using 8,468KB of RAM, but objectdock is nowhere on the screen. I've tried killing the process, starting it again with the usual icon in the Start menu, restarting and everything, but it never shows up. I'm not sure what else to do to troubleshoot.

Something I did recently was start using several different Desktop Pages in Fences; could this have something to do? I used to have Fences before but it wasn't until recently that I added a second page.

I just idsabled it now and still no ObjectDock :(

Probably unrelated, but I also noticed that at about the same time the profile pictures disappeared on MS Lync 2010.

What can I do to troubleshoot?

Thanks

Try this...go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Stardock/Objectdock. Open the folder and click on Objectdock.exe and see if that brings it up.

Nope, that doesn't work. This makes the process appear in the Task Manager if it wasn't already there, but the bar does not appear.

Also tried the ObjectDockUI.exe in there. After some seconds, a dialog appears: (Title: ObjectDock) "Please open ObjectDock before trying to configure it"

Just a guess here but mouse over the arrow on your task bar that shows hidden icons. If its running in task manager could be its minimized. Also...do you have auto hide checked? If so uncheck it.

:( nope, not there. (I don't remember ever having seen it there).

And I also thought of disabling auto hide, but since I can't seem to access to any part of it, I don't know how I could do it.

BTW I never used it to replace my windows taskbar, but instead had it at the left border (and windows taskbar always showing as usual)... so I can't use whether or not the taskbar is showing as an indicator of how close to working is ObjectDock.

Now since you are having a problem with another program acting up I would ask when was the last time you ran anti-virus and malware scans?  If you haven't done that in a while the first thing I would do is run them and see if you find anything.  You could of picked up something.

If that finds nothing then what I would suggest is uninstall Object Dock then run a clean up program like CCleaner, don't forget to look at the registry also for stray leftover entries.  Reboot and then reinstall Object Dock.  It might be that something got stuck, corrupted or possibly the dock was moved off screen.

From what I understand about Fences and it's pages option it should have no effect on Object Dock.

When all the above fails to fix the problem then I suggest you email the support folks.    :sun:

Best to uninstall, run a registry cleaner like cCleaner or Wise Registry Cleaner (or both), reboot, run registry cleaner again, then reinstall.

Yep, I guess I'll end up reinstalling. I wanted to avoid that if possible because I'm afraid I might lose my settings, but oh well...

Thank you so much for your help.

I'm just doing that now and.... it seems that there is no forever-free version anymore? Just for 30 days.. maybe that's what happening, they want us to buy it, same as Fences. Ok then, I guess I will.....

Sure there's a free version, I am using it now. It does not have as many features, (multiple docks, etc.), but it fits my needs, I do not like the paid version because the configuration interface is too complicated compared to the free version is all.

You can get ObjectDock Free at: http://download.cnet.com/ObjectDock/3000-2072_4-10210264.html

Don't look now, Tom, but from your link, halfway down the left side:

Price: Free to try (30-day trial); $9.99 to buy (Buy it now)

well the last freeware version is the 2.0 and it's not a trial (also working on Windows XP);)

any way for the tabs and for more then 1 dock you always needed the commercial Plus version

Yes, I'm also comfortable with what was once the free version (I use it only as a replacement of the old XP put-me-anywhere QuickLaunch bar, I need nothing else).

Thanks for the FileHippo link. I hope it's not illegal.
