Alpha Patch 0.0.2.0 Feedback

Some comments after a quick run through.

Strategic Display:

  • Would it be possible to add the current orders a ship or fleet has in the pop up menu when mousing over the ship or fleet?

  • When I’ve selected a planet, I really like the little pop up window in the lower left of the screen and the information it contains.

  • Still having trouble selecting a ship in an asteroid field.

  • I had an instance where 4 constructors docked at a starbase but weren’t shown as available to build modules.  When I double clicked them to launch them and re-docked, I was able to add modules.  Just had it happen again with 1 constructor on another starbase.  Launching and re-docking solved it.  Okay, this is happening a lot.  When constructor movement to a starbase takes more than 1 turn, the ships dock but in the next turn (or whenever I notice that there are docked constructors), they are not available to build a module unless I launch and re-dock.

  • BTW, I am really starting to like the 4-hex exclusion zone around starbases. Creates interesting possibilities.

  • Twice now, when I have set a fleet target that is more than 1 movement turn away, in the final movement turn the fleet has jumped to a nearby hex and then navigated to the destination hex (for instance, a fleet was 2 hexes away, jumped 6 hexes away, then navigated to the destination hex normally—this happened to three different fleets going to the same destination hex; I took a screen shot but don't know how to insert it in the post).

  • Planets continue to produce ships even if the dock is full.  It appears that ships produced beyond 10 are lost.

  • I was able to keep playing after research was finished in turn 284.  Game did not crash or lag.  Very stable on my system (Windows 7, NVIDIA 760 with Driver 335.23, 16 GB RAM).

Planet Display:

  • Thank you for the ability to upgrade improvements!

  • Trade Centers don’t upgrade to Colonial Banks.  Only 1 Colonial Bank is being allowed per planet.

Research Display:

  • Is Payload Stabilization (Missile) supposed to have 2 Missile Range +25%?

I haven't checked to see if it is different with the patch, but in the original alpha release I'm pretty sure the planets in orbit can exceed 10 and when this is the case there is a scrollbar. Posting from my phone and away from my computer, otherwise I'd double check to be sure.

I just checked an older saved game.  You are correct.  When I was playing through the first time, I don't remember seeing the scroll bar.

But, I had an interesting glitch on the 0.0.2.0 patch.  When I loaded the very last saved game, I could not advance the game passed turn 287 (research was finished). However, when I was playing through the first time, I was able to continue after research was done.  Interesting.

Okay, I tested this again and there is something strange going on.  If the planet dock is full with constructors and I build another constructor, the new constructor does not appear and there is no scroll bar in the dock.  If, however, I build a warship instead of a constructor, the scroll bar and warship do appear.
