shipyard range

just a thought that came to me that would be usefull

a colored ring around the shipyard when you select it while "unanchored" (or possibly a show radius button ) that shows the effectiveness of the resources it recieves

green  >= 75% of resources recieved from planets in green ring

yellow 74-50% of resources received from planets in yellow ring

orange 49-25% of resources received from planets in orange ring

red <25% of resources received from planets in red ring

this would allow the player to readily see how much of a loss they are taking and whether it will be better to build a new shipyard or to send resources to an existing one

had some thoughts while at work today

the starport i think needs an extra screen right now the planetary sponsors is too small and crammed in the corner (it also suffers from the same slow scrolling flaw as the planetary production que) this screen would probably replace the original idea in this thread

the second screen would be optimization

the main portion of this screen would show the starport and surrounding hexes im thinking radius 10 or so. the hexes shown would be color coded based on their hypothetical production (if the startport were moved to that tile)

 

  • any tile that has a higher possible production then where the starport currently is would start at blue and go to green depending on how high much more its production is possible  (green is highest)
  • any tile that has the same production as the current tile would have no coloring
  • any tile that has a lower production would start at yellow and change to red depending on its possible production (red is lowest)

 

mousing over these tiles would show the difference between the tile the starport is currently on and the moused over tile, double clicking a tile would cause the starport to "unanchor" move and then anchor in the new location with a prompt.

 

the second portion of this screen should be related to sponsors and will contain 3 lists

  1. claimed sponsors, any sponsor currently providing resources to this starport.
  • somewhat like the current list but larger should be able to see at least 5 sponsors at a time
  • social/military sliders able to be adjusted from this screen (adjusting should update the map screen (previous) in real time)
  • double clicking a sponsor should take me to the govern planet screen  (edit i just found out this is already in)

    2.  available sponsors, any planet not currently sending resources to a starport

  • should have a claim all button as well as individual claim buttons
  • should show up in descending order by distance

    3. active sponsors, any planet providing resources to a starport OTHER then the currently selected starport

  • should have a transfer sponsor button
  • should show production currently provided to starport as well as hypothetical production for this starport

Androshalforc--really love your ideas here. I'm sure the devs are already working on improving the starport UI, and I would love to see some of these ideas implemented in their improvements.
