I just want to know if there is another resource besides the two I know of?

 

Elerium

 

Durantium

 

I thought there was a third one to go with Missiles and Missile defenses.

Promethion, Thulium, and Antimatter. There are also Relics (culture and economic) and the Ascension Gates (for the Ascension-victory). However, none of those resources are active yet, as far as I know.

To be clear, ONLY Durantium and Elerium are in Alpha. The others you mentioned are not in...

 

I am really certain I saw a 'relic' in an area but it may have been space junk.

Durantium will allow Augments for Armors and Rail guns (Mass drivers). 

 

Elerium will support Augments for Beam weapons and Shields.

 

In each case the augment will improve the base defense or weapon greatly. I still don't know how the shield cancelling Augment using Elerium on Beam weapons will be balanced by 'Really good shields' using Elerium augments.  I would hope that the cancel each other out but who knows..

Interestingly, I ran into the use of the resource during the game I played last night.  Still, there did not seem to be much difference between a default gunboat with durantium and a default dunbout without durantium (other than more expensive with durantium).  Perhaps I have yet to get deep enough into the tech tree to see the difference?
