Nvidia Driver Issues

At the request of the Alpha support team, for a separate issue, I recently updated the drivers for my Nvidia GTX 470 from 334.89 to 337.88. I had also cleared the prefs.ini at their request, and that has not yet been changed.

After updating, I immediately noticed that there are issues in game:

Planetary management screen, and if that planet has a moon, the planet rotation stutters horribly until it's moon comes into view. Once that happens, it's smooth again.

Galactic Map: Turn cycles are taking longer while zoomed out, and there is noticeable input and response lag immediately following a turn.

Neither of these were an issue while on the 334.89 driver. I will be reverting to the older drivers tonight, and will update the findings.

OK, so here is the test layout and progression:

Driver Version - Game result

PM: Planetary Management Screen

GM: Game Map Screen (varying zoom levels)

334.89 - PM: Smooth Planetary management screen background with moon. GM: usual turn cycle delays at relative zoom levels.

337.88 - PM: Choppy planet rotation until moon rotates into view, then planet rotation is smooth.  GM: noticeable delays in turn cycle from 334.89, also with skipping graphics (planetary moons, frame jumps) just after a turn cycle.

335.23 - PM: Initial chop in planet rotation, clear up after a second, but before the moon rotates into view. GM: initial timing delay consistent with 334.89 performance. No graphical issues noticed after turn cycle. Much improved from 337.88 "upgrade".

As of this point, I will be staying with 335.23 until the next game update.

yeah, does not see that GUI performance is a concern just yet.  I am lucky to get 5-6 FPS on a Nvidia GeForce GTX 870M which screams with other games.  Tis alpha...
