Music Review: Usher & will.i.am "OMG"

           Usher is rendered speechless by a beautiful woman he sees in the club in the               fair “OMG.”

           Crowd cheering and leaden synths open the single, setting a molded tone.  In the intro, will.i.am says he did something awesome and created another hit song. Usher says the song’s title. (“Oh my,gosh (Baby let me...)/ I did it again, so I'm gon' let the beat drop/Oh my.”)

               In the chorus, Ushe says he would like to sleep with her. She doesn’t seem to notice him, though. His mouth formed an “o” when he saw her. He has no idea who she is but he has to know her. She’s the one. He knows it. (“Baby let me love you down, there's so many ways to love ya/Baby I can break you down, there's so many ways to love ya/Got me like, oh my gosh, I'm so in love/I found you finally, you make me want to say/Oh oh oh-oh oh, oh oh oh-oh oh/Oh oh oh-oh oh, oh oh - oh my gosh/You make me want to say/Oh oh oh-oh oh, oh oh oh-oh.”)

            He thinks she could star in a music video, stealing attention from the pop singer with her moves. He isn’t the the monogamous type. She has a great butt. Once she turns around to face, his eyes go straight to her chest. He looks her up and down, grinning. (“I fell in love with shawty when I seen her on the dance floor/She was dancing sexy, pop-pop-poppin', droppin', droppin' low/Never ever has a lady hit me on the first sight/This was something special; this was just like dynamite/Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow/Honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow/Girl you know I'm lovin' your, lovin' your style/Check, check, check, check, check, checkin' you out like/Oh, she got it all/

Sexy from her head to the toes, and I want it all, it all, it all.”)

          Usher sings the chorus again.

          Will.i.a, basically says the first verse but with different wording. Usher says the last lyric of the verse. (“Feel so hot for honey out of all the girls up in the club/This one got me whipped, just off one look, yep I fell in love/This one something special, this one just like dynamite/Out of sight/Fell in love with honey like my, oh my/Honey looking wonderful: fly, so fly/Honey like a supermodel: my, oh my/Baby how you do that, make a grown man cry?/Oh baby, you got it al/Sexy from her head to the toes, and I want it all, it all, it all.”)

         Usher sings the chorus again.

          Will.i.am repeats a part of the intro again. Oh my gosh/I did it again so I'm gon' let the beat drop.”)

          Usher repeats “Oh-oh-oh my, oh oh/Oh my, my, my, my, my, my - oh my gosh” three times to end the single.

       Usher’s silky vocals admire but do not cross any boundaries. He does admit he’s promicious (but not until he knows it’s all right to pursue and laying down the ground rules). He is able to say the word “boobies” as though he’s holding back and wanting to be polite. It’s a feat he’s able to say it with a straight face.

       will.i.am’s electronic vocals have been generated from a computer, which might as well be narration. He could be expected to say “Usher sings next lyric. Whoo. Whoo. Usher sings the bridge.” It actually would be more entertaining than will.i.am himself. 

      The  acceptable  “OMG” is a warm-up for the fun that’s going to happen later.
