Fergie plans her world tour in the ostentatious " L.A. Love (La La”).
In the intro, she la la’s over mussy synths, setting a tacky tone.
Her bodyguard tells the paparazzi to move as she walks through the airport. She has to fit in a visit to her hometown. Southern California will always be her favorite spot. She goes to an event in Los Angeles. From the expressway, she can see the graffiti painted on the concrete and the burned out buildings. Tomorrow, she heads to New York and then travels for more promo overseas and Canada. She has fans all over the world.(“Uh, tell 'em where I'm from/Finger on the pump, make the sixth straight jump from SoCal/Hollywood to the slums/Chronic smoke get burnt by the California sun/On the west side, east coast where you at?/Just got to New York like a gnat on a jet/To London, to Brazil, to Quebec/Like the whole damn world took effect to Ferg/Tell 'em.”)
In the pre-chorus she encourages her fans to have pride in where they live. People will see her everywhere. (“Lay back, slow down/Better represent when we come to your town/Lay back, slow down/Whatchu represent when we come to your town/Say, get in with the business/I'ma be there in a minute/I just booked a Paris ticket/Thinking Russia need a visit/I'ma run it to the limit/And be on my way to Venice.”)
In the chorus, she mostly mentions various major cities, including her hometown Hacienda. (“L.A. got the people saying (la la la la la)/Brooklyn saying (la la la la la)/Hacienda saying (la la la la la)/Vegas saying (la la la la la)/Rio saying (la la la la la)
Tokyo saying (la la la la la)/Down under saying (la la la la la)/Miami saying (la la la la la)/Jamaica/Every city, every state, every country you know/All around the globe/Every city, every state, every country you know/This is how it goes.”)
She says she’s well-off now. She has DJ Mustard producing her new song. Her girlfriends are as wealthy as she is. She mentions more cities, states and countries. (“Uh, tell 'em where I'm at/From the plaques to the (uh uh)/Everything fat/Got Mustard on a track/My girls all stack/When I roll down the window, let me know where you're/
Atlanta, North South kick it 'lac/Texas grill, Cadillacs through Miami then back/To London, Jamaica, then France/The whole damn world took effect to Ferg/Tell 'em.”)
In the second pre-chorus, she finishes up some more promo work in Kansas and then will vacation in the Phillipines, India, Puerto Rico and Italy. (“Get in with the business/When I come from Kansas City/Hit Manila till it's Christmas/Out to India I'll visit/Puerto Rico is exquisite/Bring my people back to Venice.”)
In the second pre-chorus, she gives more shoutouts to different cities and countries. (“L.A. got the people saying (la la la la la)/Moscow saying (la la la la la)/España (la la la la la)/Kingston saying (la la la la la)/San Diego saying (la la la la la)/Chi town saying (la la la la la)/Germany saying (la la la la la)/La Puente saying (la la la la la)/Ibiza/ Every city, every state, every country you know/All around the globe/Every city, every state, every country you know/This is how it goes/ Every city, every state, every country you know/All around the globe/Every city, every state, every country you know/This is how it goes.”)
In the final chorus, she gives out more shoutouts. (“L.A got the people saying (la la la la la)/Amsterdam saying (la la la la la)/Frisco saying (la la la la la)/Switzerland saying (la la la la la)/Sao Paulo saying (la la la la la)/Jo'burg saying (la la la la la)/Mexico saying (la la la la la)/Stockholm saying (la la la la la)/Jamaica (La la la la la).”)
In the final chorus, she says people want to be like her and her entourage. She enjoys her jet-setting lifestyle. (“You on that Cali shit/You like to like it/We’re legalizing it/Yes you can join us now/We like to love it/We like to love it/We like to love it.”)
Fergie’s voluptuous rap licks the lyrics with her tongue right across her lips. She can slow it down and bring it up speed, switching between rapping and purring efficiently. However, it’s the chorus that’s stuck in a traffic jam and can’t get out, moving less than a car length at a time.
Nothing really happens in the single and other than parts the of the first verse, says little about California. It’s a list that seems determined to say ever major place on the planet as not to offend.
The subpar " L.A. Love (La La)” could probably help with geography quizzes but has no use otherwise.
