Is it possible for my large display to impact my performance?

I recently got a new Desktop monitor. It is 7 inches larger than the one I was previously using. The current screen is 32 inches.
While playing games I have noticed that I am not noticing certain things like I used to.
Like if I am in the middle of something I might not notice the pirates about to go on a raid and suddenly I get wrecked, or if I'm in the middle of a fight and suddenly somewhere else gets attacked and I don't notice it. Or even sometimes I don't notice some units I had queued to build and now I have 18 frigites and they have just been sitting there for ten minutes because I didn't realize they had finished building.
What I think is happening is that the screen I'm using is too large and is causing me to not see things like i used to. Everything seems very far away from the middle of the screen and awkwardly large. Does anybody else feel like this when they are using a large display, if so could you give specifics? Or am I missing something entirely?

there could be differences in the refresh frequencies of the screens, but I think that most of th 32inch screens are only 1080 lines, just with larger 'dots', and it might be that the larger screeen overflows your visual range and therefore you miss items outside of your visual range angles

Probably at your higher resolution is that the icons may seem smaller now. I had the same issue at first when I upgraded from a 17" to a 26". Perhaps you can reduce your resolution or find a way to make the ship icons bigger.
