Some things to check, which many others missed, is - are you running an OS that supports 64 bit addressing? Do you have plenty of RAM? Do you have recent GPU drivers? This post has many more things to check.

Has nothing to do with my system, game is running very good. i only said if there is a update comming over steam, the game crash and is doing the update. after the update it works normally...i changed update settings and now it only updates when i start steam, but this is an issue is think...:)

Ah yes. I understand it now. It crashes if Steam is changing files that GC3 calls in dynamically due to incompatibility between the files it is using.

I would expect other games to have similar problems if they operate the same way. For safety sake, I would never allow Steam to update a game I am currently playing.
