Question on Carriers

If I understand correctly, interceptors only field laser weapon. Does anyone know the reason for this?

 

I'm not against this, but it seems then that if you want to use carriers you will 'have' to research laser weapons as opposed to missiles/mass drivers. Does this have anything to do with not getting the prototype elerium weapon?

I could be wrong, but it's my understanding that the Drone Carrier carries drones that have beam weapons, while the Guardian Carrier has guardian fighters that have mass driver weapons.

 I can't speak to 5.3, but on 5.2 the Tier 2 carrier pods(Assaults and Escorts) do carry all 3 types.

With everything unlocked the following stats:

Assaults - ~60 Attack in all 3, ~30 Defense in all 3

Escorts - ~30 Attack in all 3, ~60 Defense in all 3

 

Though everything with carriers still seems pretty subject to change.  The mass of the pods is going up for sure.  Don't know if the Attack/Defense stats will be tweaked as well.

There will be a manual of sorts.

BUt the main resource will be the wiki, which both the developers and the user base will create.  Specific info like the stats of Drone ships given certain technologies researched will eventually show up there.
