Why is there only one HP Boosting ship Armor?

Unless its race specific tech I have not noticed, I cant find any armor for ships that add HP expect the Durantium hull reinforcement. There is no other armor at all, not even one that dosnt require Durantium as i would kinda expect from what feels like a "prototype" tech. is this an oversight or more of a balancing choice Stardock decided on? I was kinda hoping for more HP boosting armor, im pretty sure there was alot of options at various tires in GalCiv 2.


I know you can get techs that give a percentage increase in HP but with the smaller ships its basically useless seeing as a 15%HP increase is just like 1hp for a cargo ship :/. Also they are now mostly in specialist techs so it seems like other options are better in most cases. In fact if you use the "unlock" cheat for all techs a cargo ship only has 14 base hp. And of course the Precursor hull reinforcement tech is kinda a moot point as its got from beyond mortality.

I would expect over the coming months and years that most of the combat will be reworked (if not completely replaced). The game is technically begin released but it really is going to just be the bones of the game, and even if they don't change it modders sure will the game has some good potential.
