Why are ship designs and templates tied to the current game only?

I am new to the beta but I think I am correct when I observe that ship designs and templates only get associated to your current game.  That means for a person like me who does not want the very heavy micro-management of creating ship templates and designs each game, I have to do it every time.  I want to be able to create my designs and templates one time and then be able to re-use them each game.  I am very surprised and disappointed that such a huge micro-management burden is forced upon us.

One other thing that I see is that even though I delete the game where these designs and templates were created, the files for them are not deleted (<user docs>\My Games\GalCiv3\Designs).  Why is this?

You know what, I started a couple of new games and I see that the designs and templates are saved across those.  But only for these new ones.  I don't see designs from my current game in new games or new designs in my current game.  The current game was created with beta 6.1.  Maybe its a difference in beta levels or something.  So I "think" the issue I am reporting is not really a problem.  Hopefully someone can help me to confirm.

Thanks

Ships and templates are available in the game you define them in AND in games that you start after a ship or template has been defined.

This means that if you have an active game and you start a different game to design a new ship, that design will not show up when you reload the first game.

It is not just the ship and template files that behave this way, but all game resources (like the XML files). This is purposely made so that the required data is always in the game save file. This allows you to transfer the game save to another machine (or SD support) without also having to transfer all support files. Also it prevents cross incompatibilities between the game data and the support files.

The disadvantage is if you make any changes to xml files, ship designs, mods, etc then you need to start a new game to use them.

So this is working as intended/designed.

Hopes this explains the issue.

it may help to design the ships as empty hulls and when you want to use it you can arm it and call it a different name
