Situation: I'm plugging along, enjoying my game. I make it like 3-400 turns in and finally need a break. I save the game and come back to it at a later date and notice that ALL but the most recent techs in the tech tree have disappeared. I appear to still have the benefits of the skills, but the skills no longer show up as highlighted in a way leading one to believe that hey have been researched. I have no idea what I researched and what I have not researched that far in. This is also a custom race, so that might be an issue. Anyone experience anything like it?

I believe so. I have noticed that after reloading some techs and all focus techs are greyed out, and not the corresponding tech color.
The issue seems to resolve itself after a indeterminate amount of turns after the reload. Sometimes 1 turn, sometimes many.
Sounds like the same issue.
I'm seeing this just playing through the campaign.

I'm seeing the same thing: grayed out techs. Not on all tech trees, either. I am playing as a custom race.

I find that switching back to the regular tech view and then back to tech tree fixes the coloring/highlighting issues I've had.

Is it only the "Specialization" techs where you have the option of one of three bonus techs? In my experience the tech tree defaults to showing the bottom of techs in the tree even if you researched one of the other ones resulting in it showing you a tech you didn't research. If you click on it then it will pop open all of the options you had and you'll see the one that you did research.
