Asking for suggestions regarding faction/roleplay

Looking for suggestions to make my faction "The Galactic Empire" (Yes, SW), even better. See below for the traits/abilities/tech tree I used.

I hadn't really set any rules on ship design and fleet makeup, other than to use a mix of Victory (med), ISD (large) with 1 Executor class (huge tactical) per fleet, but realised about halfway through the game that I should have put more thought into it I had designed my ISDs to be "support" class, with two squadrons of escorts each, mixed in with some Victory class ships also set to "Escort". This fleet design just blew the AI away, but perhaps doesn't actually reflect the true fleet doctrine of The Galactic Empire. So for my next game I thought I would use Capital and Assault as the primary roles of the ships.

Happy to also take suggestions on fleet doctrine, ship design, roles to improve the roleplay experience.

I also created a "Republic" faction, and made sure to stomp them into the ground!!

The Galactic Empire is Ancient and Starfaring, with the following traits:

+2 Production

+1 Clever

+1 Influential

-1 Wasteful

-2 Discontent

+2 Handy

+2 Militant

-2 Unpopular

-2 Poor Traders

+2 Brutal

-2 Unlikable

+2 Fast

+2 Organised

Tech Tree: Thalan (Military/Tech), Ship Design: Iridium

I used a downloaded Victory and ISD for medium and large ships respectively (thanks to the creators), and the Iridium design ships for the rest. The Iridium ship designs are actually pretty "Imperial", large wedge shaped ships, and the Iridium huge ship is a pretty decent pass for an Executor class.

One issue I had with the downloaded designs was that the components I added (like shield generators) were added to random hard points on the designs, which in one case gave me a deflector dish on the nose of the ISD .... real ugly. Would have preferred for them to be just invisible rather than breaking the clean lines of the design.

With a quick glance over this one thing you can do for the ISD is scale down the size of the deflector dish- if it will only put it on the nose shrink it to a size you can barely see it.

Regarding the ship choose, a mix of VSDs and ISDs is not a bad idea. Make sure their speed syncs so one doesn't slow the other down. Besides that, everything looks good. I play with my own Galactic Empire... I use fleets of VSDs, ISD carriers, and ISD Battleship/VSD mixes. Not optimum, but can be fun.I do agree about the Iridium, one of their tinies even looks like a reverse TIE Defender!

Anyways, have a good day! Nice to see another Star Wars Fan!

Thanks for the response.

I have played a few games now with my "galactic Empire", and tweaked their traits/abilities slightly each time to not make them over powerful. I dropped the "Clever" and "Militant" abilities as I thought these were too powerful, and went instead for strategic repair and a mix of fertile and farmers. Fertile/Farmers is quite strong, but hey, cloning, coruscant, planet-wide cities, etc.

I struggled a bit with the "Capital/Assault/Escort/Interceptor" fleet doctrine at lower techs, but it seems to work out as your tech gets to mid-tree. I also set some of my VSDs to interceptor, to cover the anti-starfighter role. Technically, it should be Guardian or Escort, but the role definitions in GC3 don't hold up that way.
