shipyard question... anyway to skip a turn?

I seem to have all the dumb questions... so I apologized in advance :(

In GCII (when the shipyard is also your planets), you don't have to have a ship building queue if you don't want to... the game will allow you to end the turn even if you are not building anything anywhere.  With GCIII, I can't seem to find a way to leave the shipyard idle (or the colony or my current fleet).  Before a turn, I *HAVE* to build something or else it don't let me finish the turn.  Of course I can 'shutdown' the shipyard for the time being, which is what I have to do now, but I thought maybe there is another way to leave the shipyard idle until I *NEED* to build something.

Also, is there a way to leave starhips in the map idle as well?  Right now I have to put them in 'guard' mode or I have to 'pass' each one of the ships I don't want to move.  It gets annoying as my fleet grew.  GCII I believe don't care much if your ship stay idle in one position....

Thoughts fellow gamers?

You can idle a shipyard.  There's a button toward the bottom of the shipyard screen that says to shut down or something like that.  It'll stay idle until you tell it to resume.

You can also set the production sliders on all of the assigned planets to 100% social, but that's a pain.  If you want to shut down all of your shipyards, you can set the global slider to 100% social as long as all of your assigned planets are using the global one.

I don't know of any way to idle all of your ships at once.  I've had to tell them to "guard" one by one.  The hotkey for this is "q".

shutting down the shipyard and placing ship to guard it is then :)
