*Just to note loving the game although i would like a bit more depth to the diplomacy system. (If i am stationing ships near borders they should be inquiring as to there purpose like in Civ 5(i know not a good example of diplomacy system).
*Playing with loads of ship sets / factions from the Steam workshop.
The Tartoon Campaign, Part 1
The Alliance had been at peace since it first took to the stars and encountered advanced alien life forms. However in recent years, peace was starting to wear thin on those in power. Trillions of credits spent on defence projects, the Hyperion Class Capital ship was but one example of the Alliances ever increasing military power. Yet civilians at home were now actively demonstrating against the military. The politicians argued about a spending freeze or even cut backs, the admiralty couldn't and wouldn't just stand by and let this happen. What they needed was a war, and a war is exactly what they got.
The question now was where to strike?
Altara was to the west, a powerful foe, highly advanced technologically and a vast empire of worlds.
The Asarians were to the north a small regional power, they had always been friendly, it would be difficult to provoke war with them.
The Turians lay to the south, a great expanse empty space separated our empires, a war with them would be a logistical nightmare.
The last option was a independent world,

Tartoon the marauders were a vile collection of outcasts, there had been rumours over the years that they were actively funding pirate enclaves in the area. However none of these were substantiated and Tartoon had been a trading partner of the Alliance for a number of years.
There was also the fear that Altara would come to the aid of Tartoon as a justification for war if the Alliance attacked, that fear quickly evaporated when news came that the Altarans were at war with the Thalen on there western border.
With the news of the out break in hostilities between the Thalen and the Altaran, the campaign for Tartoon began.

Two task forces were assembled Admiral Hicks commanding the bulk of the Alliance fleet would be responsible for the elimination of the Tartoon fleet and Ship Yard whilst Captain Andrews would command a interdiction force and would escort the ground forces to Tartoon.

The Alliance fleet was eager they wanted to be unleashed on the enemy, this would be the first time an Alliance warship had fired in anger. Hicks was just the man to give them what they wanted. Even though Captain Andrews was still mustering at Mars awaiting the ground forces, Hicks ordered the fleet in to the fortified Tartoon ship yards.

Battle Commenced, all pretense of strategy fell away as the fleet charged towards to the ship yard.

The alliance forces made short work of the Ship yards defences.
