Galactic Annihilation Mode and naming

Greetings!

We've gotten some questions on what the "campaign" will be like.

Here's what we're working on:

From main menu you'll click on "Annihilation" which is where "Missions" is right now in the main menu.

After some setup you will be brought up to the galactic map that the Post-Humans and the Substrate are fighting over.

For the initial map (1.0) there will be 26 planets which will have Sins of a Solar Empire like connections to other planets (you can only direct your forces to planets that that are adjacent to what you already control).

At the start of the campaign, each side will control half the map but that will obviously change based on whether you win or lose on a given planet.

Here's what we're looking for from you:

We have reserved 7 of the planet names from our lore.  But the other 19 planet names are up in the air.  Post here what planet name you would like to suggest. If we use it, we'll add you to the credits. Only Founders may participate.

I agreed with you on point 1 and 2 .

But lets give some space to AOTS since this game is diferent.

Even today i like play FA missions and the game is so old.

But i cant play PA because i think its a game without knowledge and they never work with community.

In all games we will have all kind complains about this and that ,but i understand what you say and agreed.

Sounds like a fantastic idea - I'm sick of playing campaigns with missions connected via a weak story. Modern strategy games (hell, even some from the early '00s) have moved to using a campaign map of sorts.

I think using PA as an example of this approach not working isn't fair - the game had all sorts of problems and there are too many variables involved to draw such simple conclusions. Plenty of games have done it right, and it made the campaigns worth playing.

Will there be bonuses from each planet? I.e. taking over planet X gives you bonus Y in other battles.

Another great part of DoW: Dark Crusade's campaign was that any structures you built when taking over an area were there when you were defending it - why wouldn't they be?

DoW: Dark Crusade (2006)

Wargame: Red Dragon (2014)

Battlefront II (2005) [Technically not the campaign, but this had more re-playability]

We will be discussing the metaverse (online, multiplayer vineyards style multiplayer league stuff) in another thread.  This is about the single player campaign and planet naming for founders. :)

I can't believe what I'm reading!! Just to make sure I understand before I go full nerdgasm, is this like Dark Crusade??? I have been wanting something like this for a very long time. I loved dark crusade but it was kind of crude compared to modern RTS please someone tell me if I understand this correctly.

And for the planet name

Amplus Bellum (Latin for large war)

X-23 or VJ-23X or MQ-17J (All three a nod to Issac Asimov those are planets in "The last question")

Let me start by Saying that i will love to have a kind of Linear Single Player Game with an Awesome Story like (C&C, COH, Warhammer 40k games, Starcraft, Homeworld, Act of War)

Leave the Galactic Annihilation Mode as a Single Custom kind of game that you play alone or Coop and that does not have a real story in it

Not sure it matters anymore but I had some names which I thought were cool for some planets so im going to list them anyway!!!

Niazuno (made Up)

Perun-Delta V ("perun" is an old slavic god of thunder and lightning.)

Kalseru ( comes form an aboriginal australian snake-godess, really suits a as a name for a planet I always thought)

Mailara Prime (made up)

Elihino ( native american diety)

Planet X (more of a joke but you have to admit, anything with an X at the end sounds badass)
