What is the "Team" option in the game setting?

Hello,

I have notice that there is a "Team" option, when we create a new game.

I would like to try being in team with one faction. Is it like an "unbreakable" alliance?

I tried to start a new game (but I did not play a single turn) and it was not mention that I was allied with my "team faction".

How does it work?
