Alright, everyone playing Strategy games (or rather any game ) that its vital to know what excactly is happening right now.
When i watch a battle, i need to see instantly who is ahead, which units and bonusses does my opponent have, and what my army has. Which units we have, the amount of T1 or T2 units, which ones, etc., the strength and weaknesses of our armies etc.
Until now i just thought its "blurry", with minimalistic show what Auras (Like increased dmg etc.) me and my opponent have.
But in my last game i had a funny little experience: Later of the game an army of mine engaged one of my opponent of equal small size (it was a 1v1v1 map vs 2 tough AI, an opponent i usually dont have too much trouble with, but this specific match didnt went well for me, and i got behind in early-mid of the game, and since the map was small i never came over 250 supply), both armies had 1 dreadnought, mine was a dreadnought assassin, he had an area dominance dreadnought, so i thought the fight would be round about equal, probably slightly benefitting for me.
Well, jokes on me, beside having better upgrades in damage and health, my dreadnought got obliterated in round about 10 seconds, area dominance, as he is, took some damage but not even close to critical.
I have no idea what happened in that fight, and thinking back to the matches i played, i rarely do. I have control over some things (small armies, artillery + radar input etc.,), but when it comes to actual army vs army combat, the input i have is close to zero, leaving me mostly to guessing what the outcome of the fight will be, and if someone wins, i dont have a Clue why, and just hope the next fight will go better for me. The simple thing that most units look pretty much the same (frequent topic on the forums)
Im not sure i am am missing vital input informations i get but dont see, but if my statement is correct, this is a point that maybe should get a closer look at.
I know that the ultimate goal of the combat is armies that fight on their own, and me busy doing other stuff, but i would at least know what happened in a fight, to be better prepared for the next one against that army.
xoxo,
Shiny
P.S.:
Just to be clear, since i sometimes sound a bit harsh:
I still love this game, and this game is beside his flaws right now one of my top RTS games, i just made a lot of bad experiences with planetary annihilation, and just hope that this game will not walk the same path of quick and ungrateful death PA took.
