Post your beta impressions!

Personally, i just played it and i have 2 things to say:

- Substrate are way too much like PHC. Not enough faction diversity! I admit to prematurely overestimated Homeworld DoK in this regard, which turned out to be indeed great single-player game (IMO, as expected),  but not so much of a superb multiplayer/skirmish game, i still stand by what i said before, Ashes faction (PHC) felt bland and Substrate are pretty much more of the same, sadly.

- this was my first game ever where i had to deal with turinium generator control and having no idea how it works i found myself on a losing side, cause despite seeing i have only one of the towers while the enemy has remaining tree, i had no idea its actually victory condition...which is fine, my mistake being uninformed, but still, it would be nice, if there was some kind of counter instead of just saying "Haalee has 1,5"... 1,5 of what?

My 2 initial cents.

Substrate feel quite different to me. I do not think that factions need to be extremely diverse to have a good enjoyable RTS.

Turinium/victory points have been in the game a while, it seems odd that this is the first time you have come across it. Victory points can be adjusted or disabled in the game lobby if you prefer to have only an annihilation victory condition.

If you mouse over the victory core HUD, it gives a description:

"Capture Turinium Cores to achieve victory. Cores contribute 0.5 victory points per second for the player or team who controls the most. In case of a tie no points accrue."

The turinium values that have been accrued are on the right hand side which the player strength.

I havent played the game too much, thats why i did not come across the Turinium generator victory before. Additionally, i guess everytime i played before, the game ended well before this became relevant, either by my win against Beginner AI or my loss to the Easy one  :D . Bottom line, i might have overlooked something, but i stlll think some kind of counter in the mould of say "Haalee 120/1000" for example, the first number rising or not would give me more info whats going on than Haalee +1,5. What is the point of knowing the rate, if i dont know the value, which is increasing by this rate, nor  the total value supposed to be achieved for the win...

Regarding faction diversity, in what way do they feel different to you? I did play one game myself and watched the gameplay video with Frogboy´s commentary on IGN or wherever it was and the game pretty much followed the same scenario as when playing for PHC. There were bunch of differences, like different orbitals i guess, that Capacitator unit and need for energy and Cruisers and planes being built out of the same factory as Frigates, rather than having separate production buildings, but that was pretty much it, from my POV.
