Question. What happened to all the graphics. Why was it toned down?

I can now see poor quality graphics compared to the previous build.

Is it possible you could revert to the previous build?

I am sorry but nothing looks 3d anymore, and I can really notice that shaders being removed from buildings and looks plain.

The landscape colours look boring and dull, and the lazers do not have ambiance.

The FPS is very inconsistent and you can now see a bunch of pixels on edges. What is up.

To me the visuals look 10 times better. Are you sure you are playing with native resolution?

Heu Buddy,

By the sounds of it you have a NVIDIA card.

 (I was being sarcastic here)

Can you see how the edge is not smooth. They completely took these features away from DX12 from the previous build because NVIDIA cards couldnt hand the draw calls, and anti-aliasing I am guessing. You have to ask them what they shut off.

I have before and after photos if you really want to get into that.

All I am asking is for the previous build to come back. It is not fair to have to deal with this because people in NVIDIA are forcing their hand.

I am sorry, but the brand name NVIDIA does not stand for gaming.

I may be wrong, but the image in this image does not match

This is a comparison

http://imgur.com/a/gF8Sw

The two images here are remarkably different, you can see how the edging is off. The first image is a zoom from their advertised picture as linked above.

Probably taken from an AMD card, with Async Shading on. The screen shots in their steam pics are not from the current build.

Word is getting out, and we are now all questioning the sudden price drop. People are sick of the crashes, and you wont get NVID card to work with dx12 like AMD. You are just going to keep crashing one or the other..

The FPS is unbearable with an AMD now. When your base explodes it looks like a meat pie hit the floor.

And as a valued customer, I feel like this needs to end, and i really think they should point out NVIDIA people need to run in DX11. I know they did before, but people dont listen and end up crashing their cards in dx12.

A lot of people, not just me are talking about this issue. But yet, it seems this developer is folding. People know what is going on. People are catching wind. I am just the lucky one.

Beta 2 reset the graphics defaults. Open up the options and set your video preferences to your liking.

Hi Draginol,

Thank you for your reply.

I have in game settings to extreme, and I played with the AMD radeon settings. Could you explain a bit more what you mean?

Also, I noticed the FPS issue going on, and it is almost unplayable. For example, I always used to love into the Engineer and was it zooming past.

Now it sort of goes like, smooth, stop, jerk, smooth, jerking.

Planes are almost uncontrollable, just keeps getting an FPS drop.

I absolutely love the new music, especially on Knife fight with the Guitar.

Still getting on here with your VPN it seems.

Well, I am looking for an honest answer.

I have a genuine concern, do you wish to answer my question.

How do I adjust the graphics, It already looks adjusted to me, and yet, we have these toned down images and poor FPS>

All i get is run around answers.

If you have poor frame rate with Extreme quality profile, then try High or Standard.

If you are having issues with graphics not working properly try reinstalling AotS.

I am on extreme.

What is funny is that my friend who has an r9290 is getting 40fps off the benchmark, instead of the 16 he used to get.

That sounds like a massive cut to anti-aliasing.

That is what is going on here, hence the poor edging.

I just want to know if it can be turned on this build, can we get a hotfix.

Temporal AA was in the game before and now it is gone. I don't know what difference it makes because it was too demanding on my system to run.

You could try super sampling if you have the horse power to play that way. Through the drivers you can allow games to run at a higher resolution than the monitor. Acts as a kind of AA.

There aren't any known issues with frame rate or visual quality like you are describing. I don't have a specific suggestion for you but please look at the Ashes Troubleshooting guide:

https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/530/175/general-ashes-of-the-singularity-troubleshooting

If that doesn't help please open a support ticket:

Is Mellified_Man your Janitor Draginol?

Not sure he is getting it:

https://forums.ashesofthesingularity.com/475761/page/1/#3622815

OP is NVIDIA, and another is AMD.

Just tell people that the low frame rates in the original build relates to better draw calls in favour of a consistent FPS.

Just because you get 20 fps - run in DX11 mode if you really really only care about FPS>

Cant play it, unbearable.

I already complained to AMD.

=)

You know what would be really nice Draginol? People like Mellified_Man coming along posting junk like that.

There is nothing in your technical support to address this.

Just be honest,

Maybe just say something simple like.

I can see you are concerned about this, and this must be frustrating for you..

Never heard that once.

If you want an idea, have negative economy. Right now it is just a stupid spam fest.

There is nothing in your technical support to address this.

End of lilosmith's quote

There are a number of different issues being discussed. Framerate, image quality, AA, and AMD versus Nvidia. Brad mentioned that one reason the perceived visual quality may have changed is because Beta 2 reset the settings. The original poster (jobshob) raised further concerns.

I know the game has been improving in framerate as optimizations are added to the game. Video drivers are improving as well so the problem described is unusual. At no point has the computer being used been discussed. The problems with low framerate could be a number of things. Deleting your settings and starting over is often a good way to start troubleshooting. Opening a ticket also helps us collect detailed information about the problem.

Mellified_Man was trying to help and is a very respected member of the Stardock team.  Please consider that when choosing your words and tone @lilosmith.

Nvidia gtx 950 plays avg 33 fps in DX12, slower in DX11. Visual qual is good for me.  Also if your trying to fix something, list your system components.. Every config can be a little different, and that little may show up a lot.

AMD hex Core 3.75 GH, 8 gig ram Nvidia gtx 950. Run at 1900 x 1200

Try options.. Change one thing at a time.. Certain cards may have different issues. Run Benchmark after every change. Yes this is tediuos, yes it takes time. Welcome to BETA games

I remember you saying you would not turn off Async in NVIDIA too.

We all know what is going on here.

Yeh Acceptable.. Not ideal =)

The first API is ideal.

A ticket is not going to make a NVIDIA card do Async! You already know what the issue is, sending a ticket is pointless

hey be greatful too. I have some idea on how to read your benchmark.. Not many people out there can.. you got to respect that at least dev's. People still get lost in the Shader/Async thing.

There is a direct correlation between the up and down lines and the FPS, I noticed.. I stare in the mirror with amazement at myself. Not sure why you bothered to turn on Async with NVIDIA, it is only logical that it can not do it.. Told you that months and months ago =)

You can see this in the shadow on tress in dx11. A consistent sun, yet the leaf shadow of the tree flickes, even though the leaves are not moving. The card is too slow to send the message of shadow in real time. DX12 fixes this, and AMD async tech.

Ashes has lots of shaders, and needs AMD to do this currently.

Something like that lol....

Yeh bro.

Mr Squiggle knows his stuff.

If I was to take an uneducated view.

I would say async hyperthreads.

Not sure how you can Hyperthread a maxwell.

Also, they must be more interested in the information within the support tickets.

I mean, from what I heard second hand people are taking shares out of NVIDIA>

Imagine how much those support tickets are worth.

Exposing NVIDIA.

I had a thread in my feed saying that they 'supported dx12'

Well we all know that is a lie now.

Propaganda baby.

I just wish they would listen and get this game right, the RTS strategy is terrible. I have been working on getting that annoying map flick corrected for about 4 months now.

Forgive me for not adding commas after prepositions, and other typo's.

Sorry, I clearly should not have used a rhetorical question.

Yeh, Not much into cocaine.

Hey, I only know 10% of what I am talking about.

Maxwel 1 shader pipeline

Amd 8 shader piplelines

How you going to sync 1 shader pipeline?? To what.. You need two things to sync - at least 2 shader pipelines.

You can join them all over at steam.. Apparently Tomb Raider has a dx12 patch, now everyone thinks that Foundation is a dx12 Engine.

Maybe Nitrous is not the only dx12 engine out there.. *insert cheap horror music*

synchronize
ˈsɪŋkrənʌɪz/
verb

  1. cause to occur or operate at the same time or rate.
"soldiers used watches to synchronize movements"
    • occur at the same time or rate.
      "their breathing slowly synchronized"
    • adjust (a clock or watch) to show the same time as another.
"It is now 05.48. Synchronize watches
    •

What are you synchronising and why?

I think you need to figure out that other 90%.

The quality its bether then ever was....

The work AOTS team have made so far its impressive no matter what card you have are fantastic on both ,i have try NVidea and AMD so no one can complain because... just great to both.

lilosmith i imagine how could you play games 8 years ago , no fun right ...there was no Async  so impossible to play or have fun on any game!!! :-"

Even if its a diferent game Tomb Raider that now have DX12 have problems for so  many players that never and, AOTS its so many steps ahead, they probably will ask how AOTS do this dx12 game so good!!!

The draw calls is the difference.

And the consistent FPS that comes with Async Shading.

You need to ask them what features they cut out with NVIDIA cards, not sure they would tell you though.
