Why are there so many broken download links?

Now that I re-discovered Deskscapes was working well on Windows 10, I had thought to obtain some of my old dreams that I liked when I first used it. However, there are so many broken download links.

 

I always get the error message:

  • Make sure the web address http://skins20.wincustomize.com is correct.
  • Look for the page with your search engine.
  • Refresh the page in a few minutes.

Now, it can change, it can be skins16, skins19... however, it behaves as if it cannot find that address.

Other times, I simply get an error trying to download a dream (unable to save in IE, network failed in Chrome, etc...)

 

Is the site undergoing maintenance, do older links just slowly become obsolete, or is this a site capacity issue and I just try again randomly?

That isn't a valid address for a Dream file in the WC gallery. It should look more like this:

https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/dream/7493

Name a few that you are trying to find, I'll be happy to check the download links for you.

Ok, Let me correct myself. The link I posted gets you to that dreams page. Clicking on the green download button for a file does indeed fail. Thanks for reporting it.

Most of these dreams are mine! I tried the links they work fine for me! I use firefox

Yes, I should have been more detailed. The browsing links seem to work ok, but download links seem to have a high failure rate.

Not seeing any issues. Look like it has been resolved unless someone else is still having issues.
