WindowBlinds 10 - Firefox won't skin

Hey everyone,

I just upgraded to windowblinds 10 yesterday and everything seems to be skinning just fine except for Firefox. I have the latest version of firefox and it just retains the windows 10 default look, except for the scrollbars which change with the chosen skin.

Mozilla (Firefox) is hard coded as far as themes are concerned. WindowBlinds does not skin the browser because of that.

oh ok that's unfortunate, is that a new decision? I only ask because I used to be able to skin it with windowblinds.

Been that way for the last few iterations.

I switched from Firefox to Pale Moon a year ago. Never looked back. Pale Moon doesn't include bloatware (Pocket, Hello) and in my experience is faster and more customizable. It's like Firefox when Firefox was good.

Have a look at Pale Moon extensions page. Remember that some extensions are included in Pale Moon by default. If you don't find your favorite extension, you can try Firefox extensions.

And by the way, Pale Moon has no skinning problems in Windows 10.:)

Pale Moon is, indeed, very nice!

Waterfox is better than Pale Moon, imo.

And Cyberfox, is even better, imo! :)

I don't have any problem about skinning any of them. For Firefox, Waterfox and Cyberfox, you just need to enable Title Bar. How to here.

Cheers.

Nope, doesn't work. It's like Firefox has built in an immersive UI! :(

I'm not using Firefox, but Cyberfox which is a Firefox based browser:

You didn't write which OS you are using. There is a big difference between Firefox in Win 7 (skins) and Firefox in Win 10 (does not skin). It's because it's not the same Firefox UI. Mozilla created a special "enlarged" UI for Win 10.

EDIT: I now see that there is a skinning problem even in Win 7.

Are you using the latest version of FireFox in Win7? WB won't skin Mozilla's latest version on any OS.

what about making a firefox addon specifically for Windowblinds 10 integration? There are plenty of FF extensions that integrate with Windows applications.

WB (at least 8.13) is skinning perfectly latest Firefox / Waterfox / Cyberfox, also under Win 7 (perhaps better if addon CTR https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/versions/ is installed)

N.B : displaying Camouflage WB skin done in 2009 (and only did as a vista substyle  )

N.B 2 : and YES, it's also skinning correctly StartPanel, explorer and so on

just checked, the latest version of Firefox that supports Windowblinds 10 is 39.0. I think I will use that until a fix comes out.

EDIT: changed 39.03 to 39.0 because of flash player issues. Also as a disclaimer, old versions are subject to old exploits, so make sure your stuff is backed up!!

I said 39.0, 39.0.3 has issues that don't occur with FF 39.0. Also, if that doesn't work, try resetting your FF profile and see if that helps. Also I combined the use of classic theme restorer to assist with a few touch ups.

Eh! Maybe I'll take Chrome for a spin again!

(Did I just say that!?) ;)

Good idea. The latest version of WB corrected the black triangle problem, you no longer need to disable hardware acceleration. The other plus side is that WB skins Chrome nicely, no addons or such required.

I am running WB10 on one of my laptops, and I'm actually having a problem with Firefox SOMETIMES skinning, and other times wiping out the skin.  The Firefox version is (or should be) the most recent one.

Anyway, I'm using an Aero 7 Ultimate WB skin. Sometimes I get this:

^This means that Firefox is actually skinning with my WB skin.

If I minimize to desktop or anything like that, then this happens:

Windowblinds then craps out the skin altogether, but can't restore the default Windows 10 skin.  You have to hover your cursor in that same corner to see the minimize, maximize, and close icons, and they are in a simple small, black and white format.

I hadn't seen anyone post about having this problem, and it happens regularly to me.

So ticked off with Mozilla!

Heck, even Chrome created app/link windows will skin!  :annoyed:

Firefox will skin but only when maximized and there are a bunch of hoops you have to jump through to get there!

You have to enable the Title Bar, then open Firefox maximized, then open the 'Library' dialog and close it.

Closing Firefox then restores down, you have to maximize it again then close it again. Then you start all over!

Firefox skinned with "Old N Style":

Was looking at replacing uxthemepather and actual windows rollup with window blinds, Which actually theme firefox 46.0 and roll the window up with NO problems. But guess it's not to be. You can't even use double click or right click on the titlebar of firefox to roll up the windows with windowblinds.
