I've been watching a few 'lets play' vids and everyone seems to be building double constructors by stripping the base constructor of everything and adding another constructor module. But when I try to do this it doesn't fit. The mass allowance is 90 and the constructors are 49 so I cant get 2 on even with the tech that makes components less mass.
Note that many of the "let's play" videos were most likely made prior to 1.7, and 1.7 changed component sizes by making them require more capacity on larger hulls, regardless of whether or not it makes sense for a given component to do this. Prior to 1.7, you could in fact fit two construction modules onto a single Cargo hull without needing any hull capacity bonuses, as prior to 1.7 the hull capacity required per construction module was 45. In 1.7, the hull capacity required for a construction module is 45 + 5% of the hull's actual capacity, which means that a Cargo hull with 90 capacity will require 49.5 capacity to fit a construction module and a Cargo hull with 108 capacity will require 50.4 capacity to fit the same component; a Huge hull with 500 capacity would require 70 capacity for a construction module.
